Partners: Energy Unit, World Bank, Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, VINLEC
Duration: 1 year
Cost: US $600,000
Funding: ESMAP SIDS DOCK Trust Fund
- Component 1 – Pilot projects to demonstrate three commercial scale PV systems; one each in Grenada, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
- Component 2 – Transaction support and business model reporting to support PV system replication in the Eastern Caribbean
- Representatives from the World Bank and a consultant visited the country where they met with VINLEC to discuss possible financial arrangements for this project. They also made a site visit to assess the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for the installation of a 200 KW PV system. It was disclosed that this proposed location was not feasible for such a system. They also assessed the buildings at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, Division of Technical and Vocational Education and it was determined that this was a more feasible location. No final decision has been made in this regard.
